Who am I?
I am a father, a husband, friend, mentor and a life long learner.
I enjoy technical mastery (craftsmanship) and being productive.
I am an introvert with loud strong opinions.
My name is Andrew, nice to meet you.
What I do...
For the past 15+ years I have been making cool things to delight users. I have had the privilege of working with some amazing people in various companies in Adelaide.
As a software developer, I am happiest when I am able to rapidly produce feature rich products & services. Recently, I have the opportunity to mentor other devs which I find very rewarding.
You can read more about my work on linkedIn.
Why I do it...
I have always enjoyed graphic design and it is from this perspective that I became interested in computers.
To me; Web development is the perfect mixture of design, creativity and problem solving.
I am always learning and also enjoy the thrill of teaching new developers
More often than not, work feels like play.
And for fun...
When I'm not in front of a computer, I can be found doing some of the following:
- Playing music (guitar, drums & piano)
- Going for long walks - bush or beach
- Chess, movies, reading, camping.
- New hobbies: Aquascaping and Snorkling
- Older interests: painting, astronomy & photography
- BUT, mostly hanging out with my family
If I was to create a new project, this would be my goto stack:
Usual suspects here...
- SQL server
- ASP.net CORE
- Angular or Vue.js
- Cordova for Mobile
For styling, I normally handwrite the SCSS from scratch.
A special thanks goes out to Josh Collinsworth for taking the time to blog about his experiences creating a blog using Svelte Kit.
This starter kit he put together is an excellent resource for learning Svelte.
The star trail effect on the footer of this blog was poached from this code pen.
Thanks Saransh Sinha for being awesome!
